![]() IFA Mini Academy NGor DakarAbout NGorThe chosen venue is NGor , a village on the outskirts of Dakar . Dakar is the capital city of Senegal and the most Western point of Africa . The local football side is Olympique de NGor . The President of the Club, Remy Juteau was extremely accommodating to our requirements. In 2007 Olympique de NGor agreed a 10-year partnership with IFA . During our phase 1 study; IFA worked closely with the Club and the local community. IFA now offers m any children the opportunity to learn basic arithmetic and reading and writing skills. Local football coach Papa Gueye has a daily group of 60 children, from the ages of 12 up to 1 6 , including girls. By October 2008 we will expand to accommodate 100 children in total. Our sponsors, Maersk Line and Bassari Resources have facilitated the cost of the teachers and the coaches, as well as the cost for painting the school, which was kindly donated to us by the Mayor of Ngor. The Olympique de Ngor stadium is being constructed and should be complete in early 2009, by which time we will move our school to the stadium. The British Council have also been instrumental in our success and via their initiative, Dreams + Teams, we now have a partner school in Sunbury Upon Thames. Bishop Church of England School hosted two IFA Ngor teachers in October 2007 and in April 2008 IFA Ngor completed the exchange when three teachers from Bishop Church of England School spent 10 days in Ngor, learning about their African counterparts and the methods used in teaching on a new continent.
