NGor

Mini academy launches

In March 2008 IFA officially launched their first football academy in Ngor, Dakar .

The IFA Ngor school has 60 children at present who participate in 4 hours of education a day and 2 hours of football.

The project is entirely sponsored by our partners, Maersk andBassari Resources.

By October 2008 we aim to have a further 40 children a day, making 100 in total.

The Mayor of Ngor has kindly donated 3 classrooms, which the IFA team painted along with the children.

By Jan 09, IFA hope to move their school to the Olympique de Ngor stadium, whose stadium we use for our football lessons.

The Olympique de Ngor stadium is being constructed to become the best in Senegal , with our school, shops and office buildings, being all part of their plans.

IFA is the first school of it's kind in Senegal , offering children between the ages of 12 and 16 the opportunity to learn various subjects, including French, Maths, Grammar and Art, as well as a chance to improve their football skills.

IFA Founder Jules Katz is delighted with the progress.

"I am extremely proud of everyone who has worked so hard over the past 18 months for the project. It is now a reality, however we must not stop working to improve the model, so that we can include not only more children, but other subjects into our curriculum, such as IT. I am determined to make IFA Ngor an excellent school and at an appropriate stage will look to offer the same opportunities to other parts of Senegal and other parts of Africa ".
